Covid Safe Plan:
Although not a Defined Public Activity under the Emergency Management (Public Activities) (COVID-19) Direction 2020, Messy Hands, Happy Hearts has completed a voluntary Covid-Safe Plan with the SA Government.
Regular Cleaning of all equipment:
All art supplies and equipment will be cleaned after each client. This will ensure that the risk of passing germs on to the next client will be reduced. Anti-bacterial cleaning products will be used to clean materials and equipment at the end of the session and disinfectant will be used periodically for high use items to ensure that they are sanitised.
Hand washing & Hygiene:
A hand washing routine will be established with each client where hands will be washed, and hand sanitiser used at the beginning and end of each session. Anti-bacterial wipes and additional hand washing will be used where required during the session (due to the use of potentially messy art products).
Clients will be encouraged to use safe hygiene practises such as sneezing into tissues or elbows and avoiding touching faces. Single-use, disposable gloves will be available for use if required and will be available during each session.
Social Distancing:
Keeping the recommended 1.5m apart will be adhered to where possible. When not practical due to space or the activity being completed, a mask will be offered. There will be disposable masks available for clients, and the therapist will have reusable masks for their use. Therapist masks are used for one session and then cleaned.
Masks and gloves available:
Masks will be available for those who request it. The current advice is that masks are not required if other precautions are being taken (such as social distancing and hygiene). Clients with respiratory conditions or compromised immune systems will be supplied with masks, and masks will be provided to other clients on a case-by-case basis.
Gloves will also be available for those clients who would like them. Handwashing and sanitising is still seen as best practise, but some clients may feel more comfortable with gloves being used. This added level of protection will be available to all clients upon request.
Keeping up to date:
As we have all seen, directions and regulations can change very quickly. Messy Hands, Happy Hearts will ensure that they are up to date with all current guidelines.
Promoting Mental Health:
We are currently experiencing an incredibly stressful period in our history. The constant changes, lock-down conditions and limitations placed on travel and socialising have caused stress and anxiety in a lot of people. Messy Hands, Happy Hearts will assist with promoting self-care strategies and open discussion about the psychological impact of this global pandemic. If required, additional advice and referrals will be made to assist those struggling during this time.
Current Immunisations:
We have ensured that all staff are up to date with flu immunisations. When the Covid-19 Vaccination is recommended in South Australia, this will also be investigated for staff.
The organisations listed below provide helpful information on how to protect your mental health during this time. Many of these organisations will also provide direct assist if you feel as though you need help coping.
